Making a choice
I try not to get political in my novels, and I generally don’t for the most part. And I try not to get political in my blog. And I generally don’t, for the most part.
As the election looms closer (it’s tomorrow but I voted three weeks ago) I have to shake my head over the reasons some people give for their choice in candidates. When I choose a presidential or gubernatorial candidate, I make my choice based on who will make my country, and/or my state better, and not some sort of party line rhetoric - on either side. A lot of people don’t do that. They rely on blind ideology that labels the other candidate as inherently morally corrupt and incompetent.
I was talking to a guy in a bar the other day that states he doesn’t care who is president because it doesn’t really affect his day to day life. Well, er… actually… it does.
Those that know me know which way I swing on this issue. Who do I like? Neither one. Who will I vote for? The one that I think will get inflation under control and the economy back on track. Whoever you pick, just make sure you make an important choice for the right reasons. If your net worth is in the high seven figures, you’re probably above economic fallout anyway, so you might not care. If you have nothing, then you have nothing to lose and you probably don’t care either. But if you’re reading this blog, you’re likely in between, hopelessly watching your life savings dwindle to nothing.
